On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the English Education Department at Universitas Syiah Kuala, under the coordination of Ms. Marisa Yoestara, M.A. (TESL), held an engaging guest lecture titled “A Writer’s Journey: Sorayya Khan’s Creative Writing Process.” The event took place at the FKIP Auditorium, 2nd floor, and featured the renowned Dutch-Pakistani author from New York, USA, Sorayya Khan.
This lecture was fully supported by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Asnawi, S.Pd., M.Pd, Secretary of the Department, Ms. Nira Erdiana, S.Pd., M.Pd, and Program Head, Dr. Dian Fajrina, S.Pd., M.Ed. This event was also in collaboration with the English Students Association. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to enhance their academic skills, particularly in English writing and literature, while also offering insights into writing as a rewarding career path. With over 90 enthusiastic participants, including students and academics from various fields and institutions across Aceh, the lecture was a resounding success.
Sorayya Khan shared her inspiring journey as a writer, offering insights into her creative process and providing a glimpse into her works. The interactive event, which Yuliana Angreini Syafruddin, S.Pd, M.App.Ling hosted, included a lively Q&A session and the excitement of door prizes, adding to the overall experience.
